Statement From Senator George H. Winner, Jr.

New York State Trooper Andrew Sperr gave his life protecting and serving the citizens of our community.

Trooper Sperr represented the highest ideals of the New York State Police -- courage, honor, loyalty and service. Our Troopers stand among the finest law enforcement officers in the world. Day after day these men and women earn our deepest respect and admiration.

The memory of Trooper Sperr's caring, commitment and ultimate bravery in the line of duty will endure as a shining example of the best of what our society offers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Sperr's family, friends and fellow New York State Troopers.
