Senator Farley Announces Aid For Libraries Affected By Mohawk Valley Flooding
State Senator Hugh T. Farley today announced that he had secured two emergency grants of $25,000 each to help the Canajoharie Library and the Fort Plain Free Library recover from flood damage.
"Libraries are an important part of the community," said Senator Farley, "and these two entities incurred significant damage to their collections and facilities. As Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Libraries, I was able to secure this immediate aid to assist with clean-up costs and the replacement of books and equipment."
Senator Farley also continues to press federal and state agencies to provide needed assistance quickly to businesses and homeowners. "This flood has taken a terrible toll on many businesses, homeowners, local governments and nonprofit groups. Federal and state assistance are critically needed, and people need assistance right now," said Senator Farley.
Businesses, individuals and groups which are seeking assistance should call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 and also call New York State at 1-888-769-7243. In addition, a Disaster Assistance Service Center is available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fonda-Fultonville Middle School.
