Senator Farley Reminds Shoppers Sales Tax Free Week On Clothing
State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) wants to remind shoppers that New York State will hold its next Sales Tax Free Week on clothing from Monday, January 30th, through Sunday, February 5th.
"All purchases of clothing and footwear under $110 will be tax free during this time period," Senator Farley said. "In January 2005, New Yorkers saved $37.2 million in sales tax during this time period."
The upcoming tax-free week waives the state's four percent sales tax on clothing and footwear items costing up to $110. Typically, counties follow suit and also waive their local portion of the sales tax. Each of our local counties -- Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Schenectady -- have agreed to waive the local portion of the sales tax.
"Smart shoppers are always looking for the best deals," Senator Farley said. "This tax free week will help them with their mission."
