Senator Alesi Secures $50,000 Grant For Disabled Students
Senator Jim Alesi (R,C - Perinton) announced securing a $50,000 state grant to help support Monroe Community College in its efforts to provide classroom interpretive and note-taking services for disabled students.
"It is my hope in securing these funds that MCC will be able to continue to offer this vital service to students who otherwise would not have an opportunity to obtain a higher education," said Senator Alesi. "I applaud Monroe Community College for their ongoing efforts to make higher education available to as many students as possible and will continue to do everything I can at the state level to assist them."
Monroe Community College has traditionally offered these types of services to students with disabilities as a way to increase and improve access to higher education. This grant not only helps to offset costs for the program, but will also allow MCC to continue providing these types of services to its students.
"Senator Alesi's efforts are truly appreciated to continue and expand these needed services for our students," said Monroe Community College Director of Grants Patricia Williams
