Statement From Senator John J. Bonacic On Governor's Budget Vetoes

John J. Bonacic

State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) expressed his disappointment in the Governor's action to veto several key components of the State budget adopted by the Legislature.

"The people of the 42nd Senate District have made their State budget priorities perfectly clear--they demanded tax cuts and property tax relief, increased funding for education and healthcare, as well as support for investments that create jobs, provide affordable housing, and allow access to quality affordable higher education," stated Senator Bonacic. "By choosing to veto portions of the budget, the Governor is ignoring the needs of the people not only in the Hudson Valley/Catskill region, but the entire State as well."

"The working families of New York State deserve the support of their State leaders for initiatives they deem necessary to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. The budget presented to the Governor by the Legislature represented a balanced and fiscally responsible plan that was negotiated in a bipartisan and open manner. I believe the Governor's vetoes were misguided and as a result, will not meet the needs of New Yorkers," concluded Senator Bonacic.
