Senator Robach Announces Historic Funding For The Rochester City School District
Senator Joe Robach announced today that the Rochester City School District will receive an approximately $32.5 million increase within the 2006-2007 budget agreement reached by the New York State Legislature. This amount represents a 9.85% increase over the aid the district received in 2005-2006. Also, roughly $6.3 million will go to fund school nurses in the City School District.
"I am absolutely ecstatic to announce this historic State funding increase for the Rochester City School District," stated Robach. "This $32.5 million increase represents my, and the Rochester Delegation’s, commitment to providing our children in City schools the tools necessary to ensure they receive the best education possible."
The funding for the School Nurse program represents new state funding in the 2006-2007 budget.
"I am also proud that a portion of this increase will go to fund City school nurses, whose important job it is to serve as the first medical caregiver for a child who falls ill or needs medical attention while in school," Robach added.
"I was very happy to lead this effort on behalf of our children and families in Rochester and I want to thank the entire Rochester Delegation for working as a team to bring this urgent funding home to our community," Robach concluded.
