Senator Robach Provides Statewide Recognition For The Ronald Mcdonald "house Within The Hospital"
Senator Joe Robach announced today the passage of a resolution in the New York State Senate honoring the one year anniversary of the opening of Ronald McDonald House Within Golisano Children’s Hospital at Strong Memorial. This facility allows families that need to be no more than a minute away from their child’s bedside to rest comfortably on-site while their child is being treated at the hospital.
The "House Within The Hospital", located on the fifth floor directly above the newly renovated pediatric intensive care unit, represents one of only four in-hospital houses in the world. The house provides a home like atmosphere with seven bedrooms with private bath and shower, an eat-in kitchen, living room, laundry facilities, along with friendly smiles and hugs when needed.
"With our second Ronald McDonald House located right inside the Hospital we can now serve the families that need to remain close to their child’s side whether they live right down the street or hundreds of miles away" said Executive Director Judie Griffin. "Rochester has what other hospitals in other cities only dream of having."
The RMH ‘House within the Hospital’ is staffed by volunteers and RMH’s exceptional management team 24 hours a day, 365 days a year at no cost to families. Over the past year, RMH accommodated over 400 families and served as a model for other communities around the world.
"I am pleased to recognize the unbelievable work of the Ronald McDonald House and their ‘House within the Hospital’" said Senator Joe Robach. "Through the last year, the ‘House Within the Hospital’ has experienced remarkable success and has helped so many families in, and surrounding, the Rochester area. I commend Judie Griffin, the staff and volunteers that make both the ‘House within the Hospital’ and the Westmoreland House irreplaceable assets to the community."
Ronald McDonald ‘House Within the Hospital’ opened its doors on January 17, 2005.
