Senator Nozzolio Announces $1,500 Agritourism Grant For Wayne County

Michael F. Nozzolio

Albany—State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that Wayne County will receive a $1,500 New York State grant to help market and promote agriculture and tourism in Wayne County. The funding will assist in the County's efforts to bring visitors to the Finger Lakes region and is available through the Upstate New York Agritourism and Education Program, which helps to stimulate the rural farm economy through educational and tourism opportunities.

“As the State Senator representing one of the largest agricultural districts in New York, I know how important agriculture is to our local economy,” said Senator Nozzolio. “This state grant will help bring visitors to one of the most beautiful and picturesque areas in all of New York State and I am pleased that I was able to help secure this funding.”

The funding will help generate revenue for farms in Wayne County by promoting the apple industry through print, radio and television advertisements in the Syracuse and central New York media markets.

“The Agritourism and Education Program provides farmers with assistance in expanding their operations, generating additional revenue and creating jobs. It also links agriculture, New York’s top industry, with tourism, New York’s second largest industry, and will help to strengthen both. This is a great program that can provide wonderful benefits to our local agriculture and tourism industries,” Nozzolio concluded.
