Senator Nozzolio: State Budget Includes Increased State Aid For City Of Geneva
Geneva – Citing the importance of reducing local property taxes for homeowners, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) announced today that the 2006-2007 State Budget agreed upon by the Legislature includes increased State aid to the City of Geneva. This assistance was originally requested by Senator Nozzolio and has been included in the final State budget.
The 2006-2007 State Budget will provide the City of Geneva with $1,842,777 in State funding. This represents an increase of $358,000 over last year’s total of $1,484,778 in unrestricted aid that the Senator helped secure in the 2005-2006 State budget.
"This State aid, which I fought to secure once again this year, will provide meaningful assistance to the City of Geneva to help keep local property taxes down for residents while continuing to provide important services to our citizens. It will also provide the City with needed assistance in dealing with the fiscal challenges facing local governments," Senator Nozzolio said.
Geneva Mayor Don Cass said, “We greatly appreciate Senator Nozzolio’s continued support and our very pleased with his efforts to secure this assistance in the 2006-07 State budget. Once again, Senator Nozzolio proves to be a great asset for the entire City of Geneva.”
"As State Senator, I was pleased to work aggressively to secure this needed funding in an effort to provide greater tax relief for my constituents in the City of Geneva," Senator Nozzolio concluded.
The final State budget will be enacted later this week.
