Thompson Announces $5.45 Million In Wny Housing Initiatives
Buffalo, NY- Antoine M. Thompson, New York State Senator, 60th District (Erie & Niagara Counties), is eager to announce the securing a combination of approximately $5.45 million in grant funding and low-income housing credits for multiple housing initiatives and projects within Western New York. The funding sources are the New York State Department of Housing & Community Renewal (DHCR) and the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corporation.
There are a total of five (5) Western New York projects that will receive state agency funding. The Buffalo projects include $2.16 million for Regan Development Corporation towards renovating the Packard Building, located at 1325 Main Street (corner of Riley), into forty rental units; Cazenovia Recovery Systems, Inc. was awarded $2.36 million that will be applied to the construction of the Central Park Commons; and People, Inc. received a $300,000 Access Grant that will focus on improving interior accessibility within units they own for those with disabilities.
The City of Niagara Falls also received HOME Grants split between the Niagara Falls Housing Authority ($389,000) and Niagara Falls Neighborhood Housing Services ($243,000) for programming to increase homeownership and increase home rehabilitation efforts respectively.

We must invest in our neighborhoods and small business centers to help rejuvenate Upstate’s economy,” stated Antoine M. Thompson, New York State Senator, 60th District.
