Long Island Senators Declare Spitzer’s Budget Bad For Long Island

The eight members of the Long Island State Senate Delegation held a press conference today to discuss the long-term ramifications Governor Eliot Spitzer’s proposed budget poses to Long Island taxpayers. The Governor’s budget shortchanges Long Island schools by $68 million and raises property taxes for hundreds of thousands of Nassau and Suffolk County homeowners.

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) joined his seven colleagues at the Mineola home of Chris and Karen Franz to show their displeasure with the proposal. Using a steamroller to illustrate how they will fight to protect Long Island homeowners from being run over during the upcoming budget process, the senators signified their intent to get the funding our region deserves.

"We are joining together to let the new administration know that we are fighting for Long Island's fair share. This budget will demand more from all Long Islanders without providing any needed relief or aid. Our homeowners deserve better and we are calling for more for Long Island," stated Senator Flanagan.
