Senator Flanagan Hosts Girl Scouts For Operation: Cookie

John J. Flanagan

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently joined with Brownie Troop #2072 and Girl Scout Troop #295 of Smithtown to host Operation: Cookie at his office. The program allows local residents to purchase Girl Scout cookies which are then sent by the Girl Scouts to United States servicemen and women serving overseas.

Those who purchased cookies for the troops could sponsor them by filling out a sponsorship form which includes a place for your name and a personal message to the troops. There was no additional charge to deliver the cookies to the troops.

A portion of each sale will be returned to the Suffolk County Girl Scouts (GSSC) which is the largest youth-serving agency in Suffolk County, serving more than 42,000 girls.

"This is the second year that I have worked with the Girl Scouts to let the troops know that we care about them and that they have our support. I thank every one of the girls who took part in this special event and everyone who joined us to support the troops," stated Senator Flanagan. "By sending these cookies to these brave men and women, we can show them that they are in our thoughts and that we appreciate everything they are doing for our country."
