Senator Flanagan Welcomes Student Council From Kings Park Middle School

John J. Flanagan

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently welcomed the Student Council members from William T. Rogers Middle School in Kings Park to his office to speak with them about state government.

The meeting with the fifteen 7th and 8th graders and their advisors, Karen Lessler and Laurie Tosi, was arranged to provide the students with insight into New York State government. The discussion also allowed the students to see how they can become active participants in this important process.

After opening the meeting by talking to the students about his role as a senator, Senator Flanagan welcomed their questions. The students asked Senator Flanagan about his life, his career and about issues that were important to them including the future of the Kings Park Psychiatric Center and the future of education on Long Island.

"This was a great opportunity for me to talk with these leaders of tomorrow about their role in the governmental process and how they can impact the future. I was very impressed by the questions they asked and by their grasp of the issues facing our state. I hope they enjoyed the meeting as much as I did," stated Senator Flanagan.
