Serrano Cuts Ribbon For New Technology At Metropolitan
The Senator joined community leaders at Metropolitan Hospital Center to inaugurate two cutting-edge robotic machines in the hospital’s Pharmaceutical Department.
"In communities of color, where disparities in healthcare access remain all too present, I applaud Metropolitan Hospital for bringing top-of-the-line care to those who need it the most," said Senator Serrano, who has emerged as a vocal advocate for the hospital.
In late 2006, as Governor Pataki’s healthcare commission threatened to cut hospital funds throughout the state, Senator Senator helped build a coalition of elected officials to support and protect Metropolitan Hospital.
During Tuesday’s event, the Senator reaffirmed the essential role that Metropolitan plays in East Harlem. "This institution not only provides great quality of care, but also serves as a safety net for the members of our community who may lack the financial resources or legal status necessary at other institutions.
