Serrano Reads From Handel's Messiah

José M. Serrano

Senator Serrano participated in the annual reading of George Frideric Handel's "Messiah" at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts. Music was provided by the Bronx Opera Chorus and the Orchestra of the Bronx.

"It was an honor to be selected as one of this year's orators," said the Senator. "The organizers of this event have done a tremendous job."

"In particular, I want to thank Michael Spierman at the The Bronx Opera Company. Through the arts, he has succeeded in bringing a unique sense of unity and togetherness to our borough."

"Outsiders might not think of the Bronx as a center of arts and culture. But that perception is bound to change. The performance today was a first-rate production, and worthy of the finest halls and theaters of Manhattan."

The event was followed by the Taste of the Bronx food show, offering free samples of food from restaurants throughout the borough.
