New York Power Authority Donates Computers To St. Patrick's School

Brooklyn – Senator Martin Golden (R-C, Brooklyn), accompanied by Principal Andrea D’Emic, visited some of the classrooms and the library of St. Patrick’s School last week that recently received a donation of ten refurbished computers to support the school’s educational programs from the New York Power Authority.

"Computers are an essential resource in today’s technology driven learning environment," said Senator Golden. "The donation of these computers will help our young students at St. Patrick’s prepare for tomorrow’s educational challenges today."

"At St. Patrick’s our philosophy is to cultivate an educational atmosphere that promotes intellectual and social development skills while assuring that our students experience the joys of learning," said Andrea D’Emic, Principal. "These refurbished computers will assist in the development of our students, thanks to Senator Golden."

The computers donated to the school were provided through a state law that created a program authorizing NYPA to provide refurbished computers to educational institutions across New York State.

The reconditioning of surplus computers includes thorough cleaning of the equipment, replacement of any broken or missing parts, as well as installation of a new operating system and at least 128 megabytes of memory.

Since 2002, NYPA has donated computers to educational facilities throughout New York State and has reconditioned some 500 computers for distribution since the program’s inception. Towards of the end of last year, Senator Golden arranged for a donation of 10 computers to Our Lady of Grace School.
