Senator Golden Awards $1,500 To Over Forty Parent Teacher Associations To Assist Local Schools

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, 22nd District) announced yesterday at a breakfast meeting of the Parent Teacher Associations in which he hosted that he has secured $1500 for Parent Teacher Association of schools located in his district which includes Community School Districts 20, 21 and 22.

The funding secured through the State Senate will be awarded to over forty Parent Teacher Association’s to aid them in purchasing needed supplies and to host events designed to enhance the quality of education within their schools.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "There is nothing more important than the quality of the schools of our community. It is a solid education that will give our students the tools needed to succeed in the future. This funding will aid in creating a school environment that is even more suitable for our children to learn and to grow in. I am confident that each Parent Teacher Association will spend this money with the best interest of our children in mind. Working with the Parent Teacher Associations, we have made a difference. It is important that this funding continues to make its way to our schools to meet the needs of the student body."

The Parent Teacher Association featured a discussion of school construction and expansion projects, the recently announced changes to the gifted and talented programs, and the Senator’s legislative efforts to install cameras on school buses to protect our school children.

Senator Golden also announced that he will be hosting a town hall meeting with Chancellor Joel Klein on December 3, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at P.S 204 located at 8101-15th Avenue, Brooklyn.
