Senator Golden To Collect Toys For Tots To Support 2007 Drive Sponsored By The United States Marines
Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) will be collecting gifts for the 2007 Toys for Tots Drive, sponsored by the United States Marines, with collection boxes available at both of Senator Golden’s district offices, located at 7403-5th Avenue and 3610 Quentin Road. Unwrapped toys can be dropped off during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The Toys for Tots foundation distributes millions of toys to needy children across the country and in Puerto Rico every holiday season. In New York City alone, Toys for Tots distributed over 300,000 toys in 2005 with the numbers increasing every year.
"Every child should have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday and I am proud to offer my office as a collection site to help make that happen. Children should not have to forgo the magic of the holiday season for any reason. I commend the Marines for transcending these concerns and bringing some of that magic to millions of families across the country-- lighting up children’s faces and bringing relief to struggling moms and dads. I encourage all to keep these families in mind when doing your own holiday shopping and to drop by one of my offices or another Toys for Tots collection site to contribute to this effort."
Toy donations will be accepted at Senator Golden’s offices until December 17th at which time they will be picked up by the Marines for distribution to needy families. Toy donations will also be accepted at Senator Golden’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremonies, being held on Tuesday, December 4th at 6:30 at Lady Moody Square, Van Sicklen and Avenue U, Thursday, December 6th at 6:30 at Fort Hamilton Memorial Park located at 95th Street and 4th Avenue and Wednesday, December 12th at 6:30 at McKinley Park located at Fort Hamilton Parkway and Bay Ridge Parkway.
