Senator Dilan Announces New Leadership Role Within Senate Minority Conference
State Senator Martin Malavé Dilan (D-Brooklyn) today announced his new appointment as Chair of the SenateMinority Conference. In this new capacity Senator Dilan will be the third most powerful Democrat in the Senate.
“I am honored to have been chosen by Senator Malcolm Smith, the newly elected Minority Leader, and my colleagues to serve as Chair of theMinority Conference. I look forward to working with each of my fellow Senators to advance a forward thinking and effective agenda,” Senator Dilan said.
Senator Dilan has been a member of the Senate since 2002 and it is very rare for someone to be elevated to this position after only four years. It is testament to his hard work and the high level of respect he has been able to earn from his colleagues in Albany.
As the Conference Chair, Senator Dilan will have a significant role as a member of the SenateMinority Leadership team. This will allow Senator Dilan to be an integral part of key decisions that will shape the Senate for years to come.
“As we move toward taking over as the Majority party in the Senate, I am excited to have this opportunity to work closely with our new Governor and with our new leader.
