New York State Senate Honors Jane Shaffer Of Waterloo As "woman Of Distinction"
Albany – Nominated by State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio for her extraordinary contributions to her community and the State of New York, Jane Shaffer of Waterloo was chosen to be recognized among the outstanding women across New York State at the 2007 "Women of Distinction" ceremony held today in Albany. The program is sponsored by the New York State Senate.
“It is an honor to recognize and pay tribute to Jane Shaffer,” Senator Nozzolio said. “Jane has dedicated her life to serving others and has been a true leader in honoring America’s veterans. Her hard work and dedication is deserving of this recognition and I am honored to nominate her as a 2007 ‘Woman of Distinction’.”
Jane Shaffer has a long history of being actively involved in community affairs. As Co-Chair of the Celebrate Commemorate Memorial Day Committee of Waterloo, she pays tribute and honors veterans that have served our country. Last Memorial Day, the Celebrate Commemorate Committee hosted the Healing Field Memorial in Waterloo, where over 1,000 American flags flew in honor and memory of those who served.
Actively involved in the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce and the American Red Cross, Jane has worked tirelessly on behalf of her community and has served as the Executive Director of the New York State Jaycees, an organization devoted to giving young adults the tools they need to successfully compete in the business world.
In addition to her extraordinary involvement in her community, Jane Shaffer still has the time to have a very successful career and is a co-owner and Vice-President of Sessler Enterprises, a nationally recognized building and bridge demolition company. Jane and her husband Chris have two children, Melissa and Matthew.
“Jane Shaffer is a shining example of achievement and excellence for our entire community. Her name now joins that of other women whose accomplishments, sacrifices and deeds on behalf of others are deserving of special honor,” Senator Nozzolio concluded.
Jane received her “Woman of Distinction” award today at a special ceremony in Albany, where other recipients from across the State were also honored. Launched in 1998, the “Women of Distinction” program was created to celebrate the rich heritage of notable women from New York's past as well as to honor outstanding women today who have followed their example.
