Webster-Citing the critical importance of supporting the needs of our local police, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio, Chairman of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections Committee, announced that he has secured $40,000 in state funding for the Webster Police Department. Nozzolio made the announcement at the Webster Town Hall, surrounded by Webster Police Chief Gerald Pickering and officers from the department.

“Our local police departments provide critical services for our citizens and communities,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The Webster Police Department is to be commended for their dedication and commitment to service and I was pleased to secure this State grant to support their efforts.”

The funding announced today will allow the Police Department to purchase and completely outfit a new patrol vehicle for traffic enforcement.

Gerald Pickering, Chief of the Webster Police Department said, “One of our goals this year has been to devote our resources so that we could deploy a traffic enforcement vehicle to address some concerns of the citizens. We are certainly excited that we will now be able to achieve our goal because of the hard work of Senator Nozzolio in securing this state grant for us.”

“Our brave police officers represent the very best of our communities and the very best of New York State. As State Senator, I commend and thank them for their commitment to serving and protecting the public,” Nozzolio concluded.
