Pliant Corp. Expands In Wayne County
Macedon- Senator Nozzolio today announced that Pliant Corporation, a manufacturer of plastic film, will invest $6 million in facility improvements, machinery upgrades and product line expansions at its Macedon (Wayne County) location. Pliant Macedon will retain its existing 461 jobs and add 55 more by year end.
The Wayne County facility, one of 26 plants Pliant owns worldwide, manufactures printed packaging for food, personal care and medical markets. Through this investment, Pliant Macedon will expand its production capability to include blown film extrusion and additional flexographic printing. Pliant will also relocate three bag converting lines from its Langley, British Columbia plant.
Senator Nozzolio said, "Pliant Corporation is a major employer for Wayne County and their decision to expand their facility in Macedon and create more jobs is tremendous news for the local economy. The manufacturing industry is an important sector for New York State and I look forward to continue working with Governor Spitzer on creating more jobs in our region and boosting the Upstate economy."
In recognition of its investment in New York, Empire State Development and Pliant Corp have agreed to a series of project milestones, through which Pliant will be eligible to apply for up to $150,000 in funds for machinery and equipment. Under the agreement, the funding will be phased over the year, and Pliant will receive the full amount upon reaching expansion targets set by Empire State Development.
