Michael F. Nozzolio

Auburn— Continuing his crusade to keep Auburn Memorial Hospital open, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio today announced that the 2007-2008 State budget contains $500,000 for the hospital. This announced funding will bring the total amount of State aid that Senator Nozzolio has helped secure for AMH in the last year to $5.9 million.

“This is another victory for Auburn Memorial Hospital, the residents of the City and the surrounding communities,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The services provided by Auburn Memorial Hospital are vital for the critical health care needs of the community and I am proud to continue to lead the fight to keep Auburn Memorial open for the residents and families in our region.”

Throughout the years, Senator Nozzolio has been an ardent supporter and advocate for Auburn Memorial Hospital. Last year, Senator Nozzolio worked to successfully secure $4.4 million in HEAL-NY funds for the hospital as well as $1 million for equipment upgrades to emergency room operations.

Robert K. Bergan, President of the Auburn Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, said, “This is more good news for the continued revitalization of Auburn Memorial Hospital. Because of the Senator’s hard work, we are turning around our finances and this State funding will help to ensure a brighter future for the hospital and all of the people that it serves.”

“It is important that New York State continue to make wise investments to strengthen area hospitals and ensure the viability of health care services in Cayuga County. The funding contained in this year’s state budget will strengthen the operations at Auburn Memorial Hospital to help ensure that it continues to provide the highest quality services possible,” Nozzolio concluded.
