Senator Nozzolio Delivers $50,000 For Village Of Palmyra
Palmyra— State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio announced today that he has secured $50,000 in state funding for the Village of Palmyra to build a boat launch on the Canal. The funding that was announced today is in addition to a $20,000 state grant that Senator Nozzolio secured last year that allowed the Village to create a comprehensive plan for developing their waterfront.
"I'm very pleased that I was able to deliver this critical state funding and continue my commitment to the development of Palmyra’s waterfront," said Senator Nozzolio. "At a time when there is a resurgence of interest in our canal's history and its potential for tourism, it is even more important that Palmyra create a park for residents and tourists to enjoy the canal."
Today’s announced funding of $50,000 was requested by the Village to purchase a piece of property where parking and a boat launch can be constructed on the Canal. Once completed, it will be the only location in Palmyra to launch large boats into the Canal.
Last year’s funding of $20,000 allowed the Village of Palmyra to create a comprehensive waterfront development plan and create plans for a Canalside Nature Park in Palmyra. The development plan allowed the Village to receive additional state grant money from the New York State Canal Corporation for the development of the Canalside Nature Park.
Palmyra Mayor Vicky Daly said, “On the behalf of the residents of Palmyra, I would like to sincerely thank Senator Nozzolio for his continued commitment to Palmyra. Without Senator Nozzolio’s work to secure these two grants, this important project would not be happening.”
