Senator Nozzolio Secures $20,000 In Funding For The Geneva Police Department
Geneva – Continuing his aggressive efforts to support local law enforcement agencies in combating crime, State Senator Michael Nozzolio today announced that he has secured $20,000 in state funding for the Geneva Police Department to purchase computers for their patrol cars.
“The Geneva Police Department is one of the finest law enforcement agencies in our region and I was pleased to help secure this funding to assist the Department in their efforts to protect our citizens and families and ensure the safety of Geneva’s streets and neighborhoods,” said Senator Nozzolio.
The Geneva Police Department began to use lap top computers in their patrol vehicles in 2004 and the funding will allow for the purchase of new, updated computers.
The computers reduce the amount of time an officer needs to spend in the police station and allows the Department to become more efficient by reducing the amount of paperwork, thereby allowing officers to spend more time on the street. It also enables all members of the force to be able to access information to aid them in police work.
“As Chairman of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Correction Committee, supporting the needs and interests of our local law enforcement is one of my top priorities. Our communities are only as strong as those who serve and protect them and I commend the Geneva Police Department for their continued commitment to preventing crime and making our communities and State better places in which to live, work and raise a family,” Nozzolio concluded.
