Senator Nozzolio Secures $25,000 For Veterans Memorial In Wayne County
Lyons– New York State Senator Michael Nozzolio today announced that he has secured a $25,000 state grant for a Veterans memorial in the Town of Lyons. Senator Nozzolio made the announcement at the site of the memorial, located at the American Legion on Water Street.
“New Yorkers have continually gone above and beyond in answering the call of our nation to defend freedom and spread democracy throughout the world,” said Senator Nozzolio, a Commander in the New York State Naval Militia. “This important memorial will honor our local veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
The Veterans memorial will display names of war veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War on a wall in front of the Lyons American Legion. The memorial is expected to be completed in the next two months when the engraving of the names will be finished.
Town of Lyons Supervisor James Fabino said, “On behalf of all of our veterans and the residents of Lyons, I would like to thank Senator Nozzolio for his generous support of this project to honor our veterans. His assistance will allow us to complete the memorial to our nation’s heroes.”
“There is no greater debt owed than that which we owe to our veterans. In fighting for freedom and peace, our veterans secured America’s greatness, a greatness that prevails today because of their tremendous collective sacrifice. America’s veterans are our true heroes, and this memorial will be a lasting tribute and place of honor where they will be appropriately remembered.”
