Senator Nozzolio Secures $50,000 For Lansing-groton Teacher Center
Lansing- Citing the importance of giving our local schools and teachers the resources they need to provide a first-class education for our children, State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio today announced that he has secured a $50,000 State grant for the Lansing-Groton Teacher Center. The announcement was made at the RC Buckley Elementary School on Ridge Road.
“Our children deserve the very best education that we can deliver and the Lansing-Groton Teaching Center will give our local teachers the opportunity to continue training and perfecting their teaching methods,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Good teachers are integral for the academic success of our children and I am pleased to have been able to support such a worthy program. New York State is only as strong as the education that we can give our kids and by making this investment we are ensuring the success of our children as well as our entire State.”
Since 1984, New York State Teachers Centers have provided a venue for teachers to share their expertise with each other. The Lansing-Groton Teacher Center will provide a comprehensive program of professional development for local teachers.
Dr. Mark Lewis, Superintendent of the Lansing Central School District said, “We certainly appreciate the on-going support of Senator Nozzolio for the Lansing Central School District. This state grant is another excellent example of his continued commitment to providing a quality education to our children.”
The funding will be used to set up a technology training room at the teacher center. The specialized training will allow visiting teachers to enhance their ability to teach their students with the use of computers.
“It was a pleasure for me to secure this grant to support the Lansing-Groton Teaching Center and I commend the administration and teachers for their continued commitment to our children,” Nozzolio concluded.
