Senator Rev. Diaz To Encourage Summer Youth Jobs

Ruben Diaz

On Monday, April 9, 2007 at 2PM, New York State Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) will join with NYS Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr., and NYC Department of Youth and Community Development Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav at the Phipps Technology Center to announce computer availability for online Summer Youth Employment Program applications. The Phipps Technology Center is located at 1071A East Tremont Avenue in the West Farms section of The Bronx.

"We encourage our youth to take advantage of the many opportunities offered by the Summer Youth Employment Program," stated Senator Rev Diaz, a Member of the Senate Children and Families Committee. "Since many students enjoy using computers, we invite them to use the computers available at the Phipps Technology Center as well as the computers at the NYC Public libraries to apply for the many summer jobs that are available this year."

The goal of the Summer Youth Employment Program is to provide summer employment experiences within a youth-development approach. These jobs incorporate the core elements of successful youth development including adult support and guidance, engaging activities, and input from youth.
