Senator Morahan Secures Funding For 'Home To Stay' Mental Health Services In Orange County
New York State Senator Thomas P. Morahan announced that he has secured an $ 80,000 grant for the Mental Health Association in Orange County (MHA) to fund the "Home to Stay Program". A consortium of organizations including the MHA of Orange County, the Orange County Department of Mental Health, the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Rehabilitation Support Services, Inc., and the Alliance for the Mentally Ill in Orange County requested the funds to continue to operate the innovative mental health program. Senator Morahan's grant matches a funding allocation from the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
"The $80,000 grant will help stabilize this program for the next four years," said Nadia Allen, Executive Director for the MHA. Home to Stay provides a comprehensive range of services to individuals suffering from serious and persistent mental illness including:
Subsidized, furnished apartments
24-hr., 7 day a week staff coverage
On-Site staff facilitation
Individualized service planning
Support and advocacy
Referral and linkage to community services
Community integration
Financial management/budgeting
Vocational/Educational support
Recreational activities
Transportation
Life Skills Training
Medication Supervision
