In response to policing issues and crime-related questions raised by youth, State Senator Velmanette Montgomery will hold a public forum to give middle school and high school students an opportunity to dialogue with law enforcement leaders.
The forum is the second Youth Speak-Out that Senator Montgomery organized this year around local and state issues that are important to 18th Senate District youth. It is co-sponsored by Council Members Darlene Mealy and Al Vann, Assemblymembers Darryl Towns and Annette Robinson and William Boyland, Jr. and CAMBA’s Beacon Director Debra Mack-Glasgow.
Law enforcement professionals who will be on hand to provide information and respond to questions and concerns, include 73rd Precinct Commanding Officer and Deputy Inspector Jeffrey Maddrey; Reverend Joseph Jones, Office of District Attorney Joseph Hynes; Senator Eric Adams; Judge Betty E. Staton, and representatives from Bedford Stuyvesant Community Legal Services, 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care, and Safe Horizon PSA3 (NYCHA’s Domestic Violence Intervention, Education and Prevention Program).
The forum is open to the public and free-of-charge.
