Sen. Fuschillo Welcomes Wounded Lindenhurst Marine During Visit To State Capitol

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. welcomed Lindhurst Marine Ian Lennon who visited the State Capitol in Albany this week to raise awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization which supports the needs of severely injured service men and women throughout the United States. In 2003, Mr. Lennon was deployed in Kuwait with the 5th Marine Regiment when a fuel tanker he was filling exploded. He received burns over one third of his body.
Senator Fuschillo (8th District)said, “I was pleased to meet with this brave soldier during his visit to the State Capitol, who has worked so hard to bring comfort and support to other wounded servicemen and women. Ian continually uses his experiences to help others, and he does so with a positive attitude and a great sense of humor.”
After the accident in Kuwait and due to the severity of his injuries, Mr. Lennon was immediately sent to Landstuhl, Germany and then back to Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas. After a year at Brooke, he returned home to his family in Lindenhurst to continue treatment at Cornell University’s medical center in New York City. To date, Ian has had four surgeries with more to come.
Back on Long Island, Mr. Lennon has spent much time raising awareness of the needs of other wounded warriors and their families in the community through the Wounded Warrior Project.
The mission of the Wounded Warrior Project is to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women, to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other, and to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs.
