Long Islanders in danger of losing their homes

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) is reminding homeowners who are in danger of foreclosure about the assistance programs and services offered by the Long Island Housing Partnership.

“Many families from communities across Long Island are currently at risk of losing their homes, and they need to know that there are options available to them to help avoid foreclosure. Through the Long Island Housing Partnership, these homeowners can receive private, one-on-one counseling to teach them about the options that are available to help them keep their homes,” said Senator Fuschillo.

"LIHP is pleased to work with Senator Fuschillo to bring these much needed services to our local families. Our goal is to keep as many families as possible from going into foreclosure and losing their homes. LIHP's default counseling services are always free of charge," said Peter J. Elkowitz, Jr., President and CEO of the Long Island Housing Partnership.

Families in danger of defaulting on a mortgage can receive private, one-on-one counseling from the Long Island Housing Partnership. Housing counselors certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will help homeowners facing foreclosure understand their rights and teach them about the different options that are available to help them get out of debt.

Residents who would like more information about these services can call the Long Island Housing Partnership at 631-435-4710 or visit www.lihp.org.
