Senator Skelos And Assemblyman Barra Secure State Funds For Rockville Centre Senior Programs
Senate Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos (9th Senate District) and Assemblyman Bob Barra (14th Assembly District) recently announced securing $30,000 in state grants for the Village of Rockville Centre’s senior citizens programs. This money will help with the continuation of the Senior Nutrition program as well as assist with the cost associated with operating Senior People in Action program.
The nutrition program will receive $25,000 in assistance in order to help senior citizens maintain the proper nutrition for seniors in an enjoyable social setting. Since the inception of this program, the number of participants and meals have more than tripled. The funds will help cover the increasing demands and escalating prices for food. The remainder of the money will go to helping the Sandel Senior Center’s Senior People in Action program.
“I am very happy to have been able to obtain this money for the Village of Rockville Centre’s senior citizens programs,” said Senator Skelos. “The Sandel Senior Center ensures that many of our community’s seniors are on a healthy and nutritional diet and allows them to enjoy each other’s friendship and company throughout the day.”
“I am pleased to have been able to help the senior citizens who participate in the Senior Nutrition Program and the Senior People in Action Program,” said Assemblyman Barra. “The Sandel Senior Center is a great place for seniors, and these funds will help maintain the extraordinary services that the center provides and the members deserve.”
