Senator Golden Announces Deal Reached For New Key Food To Open In Bay Ridge
SENATOR GOLDEN ANNOUNCES DEAL REACHED FOR NEW KEY FOOD TO OPEN IN BAY RIDGE
Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today is announcing that a 25 year lease, with options, been signed to open a new Key Food Supermarket at 242 Bay Ridge Avenue in Bay Ridge. The store, which is expected to open this Fall, will be 13,000 square feet with a parking lot across the street.
Senator Marty Golden stated, "This is a major victory for the community who just last week learned that Key Food at 9408-3rd Avenue is closing later this month. As we continue to negotiate with Walgreen’s to open a pharmacy that sells produce and food items, the community breathes a sigh of relief that a new supermarket, with parking, is set to open. I applaud the owner for his recognizing the need to bring a new supermarket to Bay Ridge which is suffering from a lack of supermarkets and options."
Senator Golden continued, "Since the Waldbaum’s closed on 4th Avenue and 67th Street, this immediate area of Bay Ridge has been crying out for a supermarket to be open. This deal finalized today is one that will make a significant impact on the quality of life of Bay Ridge. It will allow for convenience in shopping for so many who have faced a hardship for too long. I thank the new owner, Sammy Abed, and wish the store much success."
Senator Golden will be meeting with residents again next week to begin a dialogue about the planned Walgreen’s store set to replace the Key Food on 3rd Avenue.
