Senator Golden To Honor Community Leaders At Italian Heritage Celebration
SENATOR GOLDEN TO PAY TRIBUTE TO OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY LEADERS AT CELEBRATION OF ITALIAN HERITAGE
Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) will be hosting a special awards ceremony and reception in honor of five outstanding Italian Americans from his district at a celebration of Italian Heritage on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at C and C Caterers located at 7611-18th Avenue.
Senator Golden will recognize the following:
Joseph Bernardo, Marine Park Community Activist
Millenium "Active Seniors on the Go"
Ida D’Amelio, Teacher, P.S. 176
Board Member, Neighborhood Improvement Association
Dr. Salvatore Ferrera, President, Xaverian High School
Charles Pomaro, Assistant Principal, Brooklyn Technical High School
Bay Ridge Bensonhurst Parks Task Force
Joseph Rizzi, Federation of Italian American Organizations of Brooklyn
Senator Golden stated, "Each year, the month of October is dedicated to the celebration of Italian Heritage and so I host an community event, along "Christoforo Colombo Boulevard" where I honor those who have proven to be extraordinary citizens of our neighborhood. This year is no difference in that I will honor five Italian Americans who have achieved much in support of our community organizations, our schools and our seniors."
Golden continued, "Italians have from the very beginning of our Nation’s history been part of the fabric which is our Nation. The Italian American community has long been one admired by many for what they have been able to achieve in sports, in politics, in business and at the same time for their food and culture, and for the beauty of the Italian language."
