Senator Nozzolio Sponsors Resolution Proclaiming Crime Victims’ Rights Week In New York
Albany—State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R,C-Fayette), Chairman of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections Committee, today announced that a resolution he sponsored commemorating this week (April 10-16) as Crime Victims’ Rights Week in the State of New York has been adopted by the State Senate. Crime Victim’s Rights Week is also being observed this week nationally.
“From hearing hours of testimony from family members of victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks… to sponsoring and enacting laws to expand victims’ rights to compensation from the State Crime Victims Board… to securing State aid to assist our local victims’ service agencies and organizations… I have fought hard as Chairman of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections Committee to protect and enhance the rights of crime victims,” said Senator Nozzolio.
Senator Nozzolio has served as Chairman of the Senate Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections Committee since 1994 and is a staunch and outspoken proponent of criminal justice reform and victims' rights.
“The hundreds of people throughout our region who work for victims’ service agencies, and the hundreds of volunteers who give of their time in support of crime victims’ needs, deserve special credit for their tireless work and advocacy,” continued Nozzolio.
“Most importantly, the victims of crime throughout our region and State deserve every service and support they and their families need. They have my commitment to continuing the fight to ensure our criminal justice system is first and foremost a victims’ justice system,” concluded Nozzolio.”
