According to the CIA, upon completion, the Marriott Pavilion will become an incubator of food innovation and inspire pioneering business solutions for the food service industry. It will contain a conference center and a theater-style demonstration kitchen, as well as a 750 seat theater designed to host artistic performances, industry symposia and retreats, food demonstrations and conventions. This grant will assist with the purchase of state-of-the-art acoustic, audio-visual, video conferencing and sensory evaluation response systems, as well as ADA compliant audio and video systems for impaired participants.

“The CIA is one of the preeminent culinary schools in the world and we are indeed lucky to have them here in Dutchess County,” said Senator Saland. “Not only are some of the finest chefs trained here, the school is on the cutting edge of innovations in the food service industry. Visitors from around the world will be drawn to our area bringing tourist dollars with them. The success of the Marriott Pavilion will be an economic boon to the County and I am pleased to have been able to secure this funding in the State Budget.”

Dr. Tim Ryan, President of The Culinary Institute of America said, “Senator Saland’s leadership and support in securing a grant for the CIA from the State of New York toward state-of-the-art technology will help transform the Marriott Pavilion into an incubator for food research, ideation, innovation, and education. Marriott Pavilion is envisioned to become the Heart of Food Innovation for the Hudson Valley- serving as host to some of the most dynamic exchanges about food, flavor, health, and culture and creating a forum for CIA faculty and students to share their expertise with the greater community and contribute to the quality of life in the Hudson Valley. I would like to again thank Senator Saland for his continued support of educational opportunities for students, and his recognition of the role that the CIA will continue to play as a true innovator in the food industry.”
