State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently helped celebrate the creation of a new Lions Club in Merrick.

Senator Fuschillo presented Merrick Lions Club President Frank Fontana with a copy of a legislative resolution he sponsored in the State Senate commemorating the signing of the club’s charter.

Lions Clubs International has 1.3 million people worldwide and is active in over 200 countries and geographic areas. Founded in 1917, Lions Clubs promote many different kinds of community service projects in the community, across the country, and around the world.

“Lions Clubs have a great tradition and history of service, and the members of the new Merrick Club will help enhance that legacy. They will help improve the lives of others within the community, and I wish them many years of success,” said Senator Fuschillo.
