SENATOR FUSCHILLO SPEAKS TO NASSAU COUNCIL OF CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently addressed members of the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce.
Senator Fuschillo informed members of the Council about his efforts to repeal the MTA payroll tax which is raising costs on small businesses, as well as on non-profit organizations, local governments, and other local employers. Under the tax, Nassau and Suffolk employers must pay a tax of 34 cents for every $100 in salary. The State Comptroller’s Office estimates that the payroll tax will cost Long Island $229 million in calendar year 2010.
Senator Fuschillo urged the members of the Council to contact Governor Paterson and let him know how the payroll tax is harming their businesses.
