Staten Island youth center receives new air conditioning

Dozen of teenagers joined state Sen. Diane Savino (D-Staten Island/Brooklyn) and City Councilman Kenneth Mitchell (D-North Shore) today at the Teen Scene at the Empowerment Zone, a youth center at Staten Island's Park Hill Houses, for the installation of new air conditioners.

Sen. Savino and Mitchell solicited private donations to purchase two new air conditioners for the center, which provides educational and recreational programs after school and during the summer months.

"The air conditioners will make the space available year round and ensure that we don't lose kids during the summer," said Minnie Graham, director of the center.
