Leaders continue tax reform deliberations

At their second open meeting on property tax reform, legislative leaders heard Gov. David A. Paterson’s request for both houses of the Legislature to put out their best property tax reform bills to inch the state closer to a positive end result.
Senate Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith, D-St. Albans, said the Senate was ready to introduce a circuit breaker bill, with the help of Deputy Majority Leader Jeff Klein, D-Bronx and Sen. Liz Krueger, D-Manhattan. He also proposed a task force for job creation and to reform the Empire Zone Program for business tax incentives.
