Statement From Senator Liz Krueger On Plan To Eliminate City Income Tax On Residents Earning Less Than $45k
"Today, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn announced her plan to eliminate New York City income taxes for those making less than $45 thousand a year as is already the case for State and Federal income taxes. I applaud the speaker for her vision and understanding that getting money into the hands of the neediest New Yorkers will be the best way to stimulate our economy.
In order to enable the City to make these changes to its Personal Income Tax code I will be introducing legislation in Albany that will allow, but not mandate, New York City to make such changes on its own without State approval."
