Senator Golden Backs Mayor’s Call For Increased Dog Poop Fines

Martin J. Golden

Senator Marty Golden (R,C-Brooklyn) today said that he backs Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s call to increase fines for dog poop violators. The Brooklyn Senator said that he will introduce a bill in the State Senate that raises the maximum fine for repeat violators from $100 to $250.

"I agree with the Mayor that this is a public health issue that can be quickly addressed by increasing fines against repeat offenders that don’t clean up after their pets," said Senator Golden. "As a pet owner, I know the importance of respecting private and public property by cleaning up canine waste. It’s disgusting and unhealthy."

The Assembly sponsor of the bill is Assemblywoman Audrey Pfeffer.
