Senator Nozzolio Secures A $500,000 State Grant For The Hillside Children’s Center Varick Campus

Varick – Continuing his commitment to creating jobs in the Central Finger Lakes and the Hillside Children's Center in Varick, New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that he has secured a $500,000 State grant for the facility. The funding will be used for infrastructure improvements and renovations needed throughout the campus. Senator Nozzolio played a critical role in recruiting Hillside Children's Center to expand their operations at the former Seneca Army Depot in 2004.

“Hillside’s presence in the community has played an integral role in the revitalization of the former Seneca Army Depot while also playing an important role in improving the lives of New York’s at-risk children,” said Senator Nozzolio. It was a pleasure for me to secure this $500,000 State grant to improve Hillsides facilities and ensure our children are provided with the support they need in overcoming crisis and becoming healthy, well-rounded and successful citizens.”

The Hillside Children Center Varick Campus has grown dramatically since it began operations in 2004 growing from 53 children and 186 employees to 118 children and 355 employees.

The development of the Hillside Children’s Center Campus in Varick is also part of Senator Nozzolio’s efforts in successfully revitalizing the former Seneca Army Depot. Senator Nozzolio has been instrumental in securing millions of dollars throughout the years which has helped bring more than 1,200 jobs with an annual payroll of over $30 million to the former Seneca Army Depot. In addition to the acquisition of the KidsPeace Campus by the Hillside Children’s Center, projects have included construction of Five Points Correctional Facility, the attraction and expansion of The Advantage Group, and the creation of the New York State Police and Emergency Training Facility.
