Senator Mc Donald Visits Local Schools
TROY – Senator Roy McDonald visited with school administrators and faculty from two local schools on February 13, 2009, to discuss concerns with the upcoming state budget and concluded his visit by sharing lunch with students.
Senator McDonald returned to his roots as he walked the halls of Knickerbacker Middle School in Lansingburgh and experienced a bit of nostalgia as he shared lunch with the students.
“I am personally a product of the great education provided here with the Lansingburgh school district,” McDonald continued, ‘I remember walking these halls as a student and couldn’t be more proud of the public education system we have which provides many opportunities to our youth.”
In the afternoon, McDonald toured Vanderhyden Hall in Wynantskill, where he learned about the school programs available for troubled youth and their budgetary needs. Many of the children at the facility face difficulties such as emotional challenges, emotional and behavioral needs, abuse, neglect and abandonment.
“We need to provide the best quality care and education for our less fortunate young people,” said McDonald. “I am happy to visits these schools today and plan to visit many of the schools in my district turning my time in office.”
