Due to High Winds Today (Wed. Dec. 1) -- No trucks or motorcycles allowed on Verrazano-Narrows Bridge; SIE jammed as result

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- No trucks or motorcycles are allowed on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge because of high winds.

All other vehicles are restricted to a 35 mph speed limit.

The ban is causing a serious backup on the Staten Island Expressway, which has been slow all morning because of earlier accidents.

Traffic is bumper-to-bumper between the Goethals Bridge and the Verrazano.

A wind advisory is in effect on Staten Island with southeast winds at 20-30 mph with gusts of 40-50 mph.
