The Hon. Gloria D’Amico Senior Residence Dedicated
Queens Gazette wrote about my participation in the dedication ceremony of a new Astoria senior center to the late Honorable Gloria D’Amico.
Fourth of July weekend is America’s biggest celebration, honoring our country. During the holiday weekend, local residents of Astoria honored the late Honorable Gloria D’Amico. On July 3, the Vestry of the Board of St. Georges Church in Astoria, along with the owners of D&F Development Group, dedicated the newly built Senior Residence at 14-20 27th Ave. in honor of D’Amico. Speakers at the ceremony included state Senator Michael Gianaris, Assemblymember Aravella Simotas, former state Senator George Onorato, Father Juan Quevedo- Bosch of Church of the Redeemer, Mother Karen of St. Georges Church and Leonard D’Amico, his wife Wendy and Peter Florey of D&F Development and D’Amico’s granddaughters Lauren and Amanda D’Amico. Despite the rainy day, the turnout was large with residents from the building, members of the Astoria community, as well as members of the family including Louis and Dr. Catherine D’Amico. The former Queens County Clerk was very involved in the Astoria Community.
