Governor takes it to the people, online poll asks: Is Governor moving state in the right direction?

Albany, N.Y., January 14—As Governor Andrew Cuomo embarked on a statewide tour this week to keep the public informed about many of the initiatives he outlined in his recent State of the State message, State Senator Tom O’Mara (R-C,Big Flats) is giving 53rd Senate District residents an opportunity to share their own opinions on the governor's agenda.

O'Mara's online poll asks the following question: “Did Governor Cuomo’s State of the State address deliver the right message for New York State in 2011?”

Cuomo began a “Take it to the People Tour” in Jamestown Thursday (read more).  It’s being billed as a public outreach effort in communities statewide to tout many of the ideas the governor spelled out in his State of the State last week.  The governor travels to Watertown today.  As part of the effort, he also unveiled a new website to give the public a chance to share suggestions and ideas.

“The governor spelled out an ambitious agenda in his State of the State message.  I’m glad to have this chance to give the people of the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions a chance to share their opinions on its overall direction,” said O’Mara.

O’Mara is beginning his first term representing the 53rd Senate District comprised of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and Yates counties, and part of Tompkins County (the city and town of Ithaca, and the towns of Enfield, Newfield, and Ulysses).

Last Wednesday in Albany Cuomo unveiled a legislative agenda calling for a wide range of government reforms, particularly in the areas of Medicaid, mandate relief, property tax relief, and an overall downsizing of New York government.
