Tkaczyk opens Montgomery County office
Residents of the 46th Senate District can now reach Sen. Cecilia Tkaczyk, D-Duanesburg, through an Amsterdam office.
The freshman senator has become much more accessible to the northern end of her district, which stretches from Montgomery County down to Ulster County. Tkaczyk's new office is on the first floor of 1170 Riverfront Center, where her phone number is 518-842-2407.
As part of a cost-saving effort, the senator's office will share a space with Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, D-Rotterdam, who represents Montgomery County and parts of Albany and Schenectady counties.
"Since taking office in January, Senator Tkaczyk has been on the road constantly, driving across her sprawling, five-county district to meet constituents and attend important events," Tkaczyk spokesman Jim Plastiras said in a statement. "Although she has already been spending a great deal of time in Montgomery County, especially after the recent flooding, having an office there will make it easier for residents to meet with her."
The new office is designed to be a one-stop shop for residents needing government services or help cutting bureaucratic red tape, said Tkaczyk.
“The new district office will allow my constituents in Montgomery and Schenectady Counties to meet with me and my staff without having to drive to Albany," she said in a statement. "I will be there on a regular weekly basis, and staff will be there every day to handle a wide range of constituent services.”
