NYS gets tougher on texting-while-driving (Updated)
Late last week, New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that he has directed the state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to implement tougher penalties for texting-while-driving for all drivers, effective immediately, and proposed new penalties for texting-while-driving for young and new drivers.
Additionally, the governor has directed the New York State Police to increase enforcement of the texting-while-driving ban. According to the governor's office, it will mean more checkpoints and troopers patrolling on the roads across the state throughout the summer.
